07 Mini Cooper Trying to narrow down my options, turbo under 15k?
I have $2000-$2500 to put down on a car worth $10-15k. Kinda really want turbocharged or supercharged I have a decent-paying job and can afford monthly payments of about $200. Following these criteria, I've been looking at some different vehicles in the 02-07 range:
-Subaru WRX - my top choice at the moment
-MazdaSpeed3
-Mini Cooper S
-Chevy Cobalt SS
I can't think of any other turbo/supercharged vehicles that are in my price range. I'm going to go test a WRX this weekend too because I have a height issue...being 6'5" with extra long legs means you won't fit in every car you try.
Forgot to mention, I only will drive manual. Automatic is a deal-breaker for me. And I require a car to be turbocharged or supercharged. I don't know of any turbocharged toyotas.
You should buy a used one with less than 60,000 miles on it. You will get a much better value for your money. You can modify the seat to scoot back further than a stock model for not much extra money compared to how much the car costs so I wouldn't worry too much about your leg room. The new Chevys have really bad reliability ratings across the board. My guess is a Cooper is the most reliable car on the list. If you want true reliability I would go Toyota. I have owned a few and they are without a doubt the most reliable value retaining cars on the planet. I don't care about these news reports of some of them going too fast, fast is what you want. lol. Try turning the key off and shifting into neutral if it takes off on you. I have a Camry with 125,000 miles that has never broken down. I used to have a Celica with 380,000 miles that ran great, didn't leak a drop of oil, and no smoke out of the tailpipe. This new scare is just hysteria and some of it has been shown to be fraud and attention seeking. Toyota is the best.

Can I buy a MINI cooper key on ebay and get it programed by the dealership?
My family just bought an 07 Mini S and unfortunately the previous owner only turned it in with one key. I found a key on ebay and have a feeling they are sold every so often and probably cheaper than the dealership by a significant amount.
Can I buy this key and then take it to the dealer and have it programed?
