2003 Mini Cooper Oil Change
Mini Cooper Maintenance?
I have a 2003 mini cooper S and the sevice engine soon light keeps coming on! I got the oil changed and it still stayed on! Does any body know how to reset it or what else i should do to get the light to turn off? And if i wanted to do a tune up myself what do i fix in order to tune the car up? Any is there any other maintenance that should be taken into consideration to keep my car in tip top shape?
Unless you take it to a certified Mini mechanic, you won't be able to get rid of the service engine light. It's an annoyance that only the dealer or someone with the code can remove. Mini cooper with non synthetic oil?
I got my oil changed in my 2003 MIni Cooper today and non synthetic oil was used. I have always changed the oil with the recommended synthetic oil previously. will anything bad happen if i leave the non synthetic in until my next oil change?
The performance tolerances of mineral oil (aka dino[saur] oil) is much lower than synthetic.
If you want to get to the details, your cold starts will be harder on your engine.
I'm not sure why you would put non-synthetic in a Mini as new as yours. But if you want to leave it in, make sure you only drive it no more than 3,000 miles. Do not follow your service indicator because it was programmed with synthetic oil parameters.
