2003 Mini Cooper Transmission Why can't I start my car after I jumpstarted it and drove it and turned off the engine?
Is it because of the starter? I thought it was the battery, but after I jumpstart the car runs until I turned off the ignition. I did not leave the lights on or did anything to cause the battery dry. help me i just bought my car (used 2003 mini cooper 59,000 miles auto transmission) and really frustrated from wasting a day to fix it when i should be studying for my exam tmr....thanks

The starter is not a problem, because it works every time you jump-start the car. If it was failed, jump-starting would not help.
The alternator is okay, because once the car is running, it stays running--the alternator generates electricity that the car needs. If the alternator failed, then your car would die as soon as you removed the jumper cables, or shortly thereafter. It actually provides a two-fold purpose. It charges the battery, and powers everything in the car. Once the car is running, the battery acts as a "sponge" or "filter" for all the electronics in the car to protect them from surges or other inconsistencies in the current produced by the alternator.
The only possible conclusion left is the battery. The alternator only works when properly connected and spinning. Before that, a charged, adequate condition battery is needed to provide the current and voltage to the starter motor and everything else.
If the battery is shot but the alternator is okay and the starter is okay, then you need a replacement power source to start the car, but it becomes self-sufficient once the engine is running.
