Mini Cooper Supercharger Oil
MINI Cooper S problem leakage? Supercharger leak?
Hello.
Only had my 55 Cooper S a matter of weeks done less than 150 miles - and is due back in the dealership tomorrow for the second time due to a leak from under the bonnet (the first was when we found loose bolts rattling around under the bonnet) - its not oil - but a clear liquid similar in consisitancy to engine oil which has been leaking out onto the ground underneath - have a feeling it may be the Supercharger?
Also when i start her up - it does have a slight 'gurgling' sound from the glove box - but have been told this is the air con.
Anyone else had a problem with their Supercharger on their Cooper S's?
is there a lemon law where you live? you are under warrenty right? i would exchange this vehicle in on another as soon as possible. it sounds like you have a window period left to do this.. there are laws to protect you, and you sure dont want to end up paying later.( the dealer will kiss your but and pasafi you until that window closes, then its on you! they will say you did this and that and this is why its busted. now if they already got your money and are still being nice then the window is still open.(sure sighn) but when it closes watch out!! take action fast!

question about modifying a car.?
hi there, ive just blown the piston rings on my 2003 mini cooper s with 57,000 on the clock. this sounds unusual so far however i have had a lot of work done to the car and its running at 260bhp (standard out of factory for this model is 163bhp). so fast road camshaft, modified throttle body, bigger supercharger - my question is - this will cause a lot more heat and engine strain (have oil cooler and bigger intercooler to help) but is there a better type of piston/ring to replace the worn ones with? so this doesnt happen again..
You should try to find a place that specializes in your type of car, or find a car club for Minis. People who have already modified their Mini for big power will know what will need to be done to keep the engine reliable. Take for example, I'm putting a turbocharger on a 6cyl EF Falcon, and I didn't really know how much boost the engine will take, and what I'd need to do to make the engine stay reliable with the bigger power. I went and saw BPT Motorsport, who have a lot of experience putting turbos on Ford 6s, and they gave me lots of good info, like they told me how much boost I could run if I used standard internals or forged internals, showed me some different ways to strengthen the engine eg. girdle, head studs, gave me some head gasket ideas etc etc etc.
You just have to find people who have done what you plan to do, or at least have a good knowledge base of performance tuning engines, and start learning
