Bmw Mini Cooper Cars 2009

Which car should I buy? Please help me choose.?

My current Mercedes E320 is getting old and I'm looking for a new car.

For my job's sake, I cannot be seen driving a all banged up Toyota Camry with cloth seats(or a mini cooper). At the same time I don't like cars that are too flashy*.. I don't need a "show stopper"..if you know what I mean. It's about 10 miles from my house to work, and where I live there isn't any extreme weathers(occasionally a snowstorm). I also don't mind the interior space, I'm a tinny man and I do not have 5 kids. My budget, nothing more than $45K

Here are a list of the cars I already test drove and I like. Please help me pick one, and feel free to suggest me new cars that fits the above description.

Audi A4 v.s. BMW 3 series (pros and cons)?

So I'm getting a car this december... and I want to get the Audi A4 2009 model (i heard there isn't much of a difference from the '09 and '10 model)
my mom wants me to get the 328i BMW cuz its bigger and BMW has the 4year/50k mile free maintenance program... and dad wants me to get the mini cooper, which my mom and I are both against.

i think i'm pretty much set on the a4, but does audi have the free maintenance program like BMW? we went to the BMW dealership and they told us they were the only european car company which offered that program.

i live in southern california if that helps.
and on the audi a4, i noticed there are two black colors available.
phantom black pearl effect and brilliant black.
what's the difference between those colors?
i can't really tell from the "configure your audi" thing.

First of all..I'm not even going to consider the mini cooper because it doesn't compare to the Audi or BMW.

Audi doesn't have the free maintenance program like BMW but you shouldn't really need it. I believe you get a 4 year/50k mile warranty on the Audi too, but the thing it doesn't cover that the BMW warranty DOES cover are consumables (brake pads, wiper blades, things like that), but if like something breaks down, it will be covered. I'm pretty sure what I'm telling you is true but I would go to an Audi dealer or call them up and find out exactly what the warranty covers. Usually it covers everything except consumables but I would call just to be sure. In the long run, I suggest buying the Audi. Even though you don't get the free maintenance like you do on the BMW, it's better overall because BMWs tend to have more problems, and problems that cost more to repair. The reason BMW introduced the free maintenance was because a lot of people would buy the BMW, but then get mad that they had to spend so much on maintenance so they stopped buying them. Then BMW introduced the free maintenance to get customers back. I'm sure a lot of people buy BMWs and sell them right before the free maintenance is up because they don't want to pay for the ridiculously expensive service. So in the long run, I think the A4 will be better and have less problems.

I don't know where your mom got the idea that the BMW is bigger but I don't think it is. Since the A4 was redesigned in 2009, Audi increased the space a lot. A lot of reviews say that the "new" A4s get something that the "old" ones didn't have: a backseat. So I think they're roughly the same size but you can check. Drive both of them and see which has more space, and before you buy, sit in ALL the seats, not just the driver and passenger, sit in the back seat too, even though you probably won't ever sit there because you'll be the driver, just sit in it to make sure it's somewhat comfortable.

Between the 2 blacks, I don't think there's much of a difference, and people won't notice unless they see the 2 different colors right next to each other. Just note that the phantom black pearl effect MIGHT cost extra than the brilliant black (which they might consider as the "basic" color.) Car companies sometimes do this. They have a line of colors, and then they just add like a "pearl effect" or something like that and add about $500-$1000 to the price. If you're worried about money then I would just go without it..and it's probably not worth it anyway. If you really like it or it's free then go for it. Sometimes I like the non-pearl effect colors better but not knowing what the 2 look like exactly I can't give you my personal opinion.

ALSO, if you're going with the Audi, be sure to get the LED daytime running lights. Honestly, the car looks so bad and out of place without them. I believe it comes with the "premium plus" package (I think the packages are premium, premium plus, and prestige, with prestige being the best and most expensive.) The premium plus package comes with some other features you'll probably appreciate too. Then you can continue to customize with other options like navigation, heated rear seats, etc. if you really want to.

People generally assume that BMW is better, but honestly it's not. My parents have had both and Audi's have won. My dad had a BMW, then sold it and bought an Audi. My mom had a Mercedes. Now they both drive Audi's because we were so satisfied by the first one my dad had. The one area BMW is better is that it has rear wheel drive which is a little more fun to drive, yet most people don't notice the difference, but it SUCKS in snow. You do live in California so snow isn't a problem, but you probably won't notice the difference either way. I noticed you said FrontTrak all wheel drive..FrontTrak is Audi's FRONT wheel drive system and Quattro is their ALL wheel drive system. So you should clarify which one you're getting, front or all wheel drive? Either way they're both good, and it probably won't make a difference for you because Quattro is amazing in snow. If you get to decide I would pick Quattro because I personally feel safer because all the wheels are moving. Even when you're not in snow, it just makes me feel that the car is more secure and hugs the road better. It's probably good for California hills too. Either way, they're both good. And the engine choices on the A4 are amazing too. The 2.0T is really fast, the turbo kicks in and you get pressed back to the seat, while the 3.2 is super powerful. I've felt the power of an Audi 3.2 in an A6 and it's great, but it must be a lot better in an A4 because it's probably a lot lighter. Once again, both choices are amazing and you'll have fun either way.

Before making any final decisions I would go to the dealerships and TEST DRIVE BOTH. You'll see which one you like better after driving because you could like everything about a car, then hate it after driving it. Sorry for
