mini cooper car costs?
hey guys
so i would like to buy a used mini cooper, anywhere from 2-5 years old...but i would only like to use it for about two years...
i know it depends on the car completely, but could you help give a range on how much money i would lose by selling it in two years? thanks so much!
You might be able to find a 2 year old MINI for sale from a private individual, but in the US, the resale value on MINIs is so high that you will pay almost as much for a 2-year-old model as you will for a new one... strange but true. For the extra $2-3k, you will get a new car with a full warranty and free maintenance... well worth it, IMHO, for the peace of mind.
If you go older than 2 years, you can find some cheaper cars and they do hold their value well when well cared for. I think I saw an '04 MINI Cooper, base model without a ton of options for a bit over 10k. I say base, but in the US, even a 'stripped' MINI comes will full air bags, AC, CD, power windows / locks... items that you pay extra for on other marques.

If you did, how much did you save? I have heard they never deal....is that true?
The best you will ever get for a Mini, is MSRP.
They don't deal, because they don't have to. The cars just about drive themselves off the lot. If you don't buy the car, any one of the next 20 people coming in the door will buy it.
You can't get a Mini through the Costco program.
