How do you build a mini electrical car for a physics project? HELP!?

I'm in high school and we need to build a mini electrical car for a class project. We need step-by-step instructions on how to build an electrical car. Please help!!!! The project is due on Monday (3/22/10).

Try to get a used golf cart to be donated to the project.
Using the discharged golf cart battery, measure the exact amount of electricity needed to charge the battery. (There is approximately a 20% loss of power in battery-charging.)
Next drive the golf cart until the battery is completely discharged and measure the total distance traveled.
Next scale the golf cart wheels up to the size of an electric car and estimate the distance a car would have traveled.

With the data you have gathered, you are now in a position to compute the cost of driving an electric car 100 miles using a) gasoline and b) electricity. Keep in mind that very few people have actuaLLY DONE THIS BECASUE THE ELECTRIC CAR PEOPLE ARE FALSIFYING DATA TO SELL THE CARS.

Next verify the actual cost of 120V AC power needed to charge the battery across the USA.You will find that AC power costs vary from about 5.5 cents/KW-Hour to 12 cents/KW-Hour (in Hawaii). Therefore the electric car may make sense at 5.5 cents/KW-Hr but not at 12 cents/KW-Hr.

Keep in mind that there is a loss of 20% power to charge the battery and then a delivery loss of 20% - 50% for the battery to drive the motor. In a gasoline car there are no such losses.

1HP(Horse Power) = 775 Watts. Therefore 1HP for one hour is 775 Watt-Hr or 0.775 KW-Hr.
To drive a car down the freeway at 65 mph takes about 18HP

Any car that is used to transport goods or persons can be considered a rental car even if it is only for a small time period. Lots of cheap rental cars are around based upon the specifications by the renter. Many options are available for cars for business or pleasure.

Cheap rental cars such as; luxury cars, economy cars, premium cars, mini vans, SUV’s, and trucks are all available in the wide range of possibilities. Each car is different from one another and has comparable features. Just imagine as if you were shopping for a car but you are only going to have it for a few days or a week.

Obviously you are going to need a credit card and a drivers license to get cheap rental cars but if you don’t have one, most agencies won’t have a problem with you having a friend or loved one to get the car for you as long as they are going to drive or accompany you to your destination. If they are not going to be with you then you may have an issue with them on that front. It is also a well known truth that agencies in the US will not rent to people unless they are at least twenty five years old as well.

You must also remember that when you go out and get cheap rental cars there are also taxes applied by the agency. The tax should not be too much but it is enough to add up to fifty dollars to your end result. Bear in mind that all states have this fee and it is nothing special just for your car. Getting a rental car does not have to be a burden and can be a fun experience if you are willing to enjoy yourself! Get out for the weekend and have a great time.
