convertible top was left down in the rain?
my jerk brother left the top down on the convertible car im about to inherit and no one noticed for about a month and it rained about 10 times. when i went to look it had about 6 inches of rain in it and there is green mildew on the front seat and mushrooms in the back. im wondering what work will need to be done on it? and how much it will cost?
an extensive cleaning but you knew that. You can assess a large part of the damage yourself by letting it dry and inspecting the quality and salvage-ability of the upholstery and interior components. After too much time in the elements, the fabrics will begin to decompose which it sounds like they already may have. You will need to drain the car, air it out, use a wet dry vac to remove any remnants of standing water in the depressions in the floor and under the seats, probably remove and replace the carpet and any fabric that is too far gone, and clean clean clean that interior. Hopefully the electrical system wasn't damaged. I don't know the make/model but if it's a cadillac, bmw, volvo, audi or saab chances are there are some electrical components that may need to be replaced. Any part for any car is easy to find and order online, from rugs to seats to doorknobs to relays and electric switches, you'll just need some money. I would get an estimate from more than one shop, and then estimate the viability of doing it yourself. If you are a very motivated person you could do it all yourself but it's probably easier to pay someone.

How can I get the green algae stuff of the soft top of my convertible car?
Because it's been so damp this summer I've got quite alot of green growth on my soft top around the bottom edge. Does anyone know an easy/safe way of removing this without damaging the roof or bleaching the black?
use soap and water and a soft scrub brush. water proofing the top should help prevent this; once you have removed the algea of course.
