2006 Scion tc or 2006 Honda Civic cpe?

I'm getting my first car soon and i can't decide between the 2. I think the honda civic has way better gas mileage. But the scion tc is usually cheaper. So, i cant figure it out and would like some opinions from other people.

My husband has a tc and the gas mileage is awesome on it, it looks super good, and since scion is made by Toyota it will go forever and is fairly inexpensive to get repaired.

Honda Civics are consistently the most frequently stolen cars nation wide.
