Custom Mini Cooper Putting a MINI Cooper speedometer into a 70' VW Bug?
I have little to no idea if this is at all possible, but I'm going to ask anyway. I want to buy a MINI Cooper speedometer and install it into my 70 VW Bug. Considering that VWs are easy to work on, I figured it might be possible to some how wire the wires from the speedometer on the bug to the MINI speedometer. I also assume that I'd have to make a custom socket for the speed gauge to go into, but that shouldn't be a problem. For you car experts, is this doable? Thanks ahead of time for the answers.

if you go with a classic mini or newer mini speedometer then you will have to make a bigger hole.
the classic speedometer will need to be re calibrated to the vw and the speedometer cable will need a different nut to hook up proper.
if you go with newer electric cluster then you will need a custom cable and housing to run a elect. sender to produce a speed signal. it will need calibration as well to the vw.

how hard is it to customize a mini cooper at the dealership?
I heard that mini buyers are actually encouraged to custom order their minis, but I also heard that it takes 3 months for one to be finished.
If you want your Mini to be customized to fit your personality then yes you should order one. At the Mini dealership by me (Orlando, FL) they have regular Minis there that you can buy as is and/or if you want to customize it they have all of the parts that they have on the website. You can buy them and they'll put it on for you. Just go check out the mini website and build one of your own, it is FUN!!!!!! FUN!!! FUN!!!
