All-Glass Mini-Bow 2.5 Little Lagoon Starter Kits question?
So I am wanting to get a betta fish I have had at least 3 before. The last one I got only lasted around a week he was yellow and very pretty. But not very social so I think their was something wrong with him when I got him.
Anyway I have always put my bettas in the past in bowls. And I have discovered that many ptu put them in small 2.5 gallon filtered tanks.
So I have found a tank on petco.com that I really like here is a link to it.

I really like that tank and seem to feel that I will be a very nice one. But I would like any to know if anybody has this tank and think it would be good for one betta. i think it might be enough room but what I will do when I get it and my frist is get the tank at the same time as the fish put the fish in a bowl let it adjust then after the tank has run a week or so put the fish in the tank.
Now I just have to convice my mom to let me get the beta 
The tank size is fine - bigger is always better and this is much better then the bowl. But I wouldn't get it if it's incandescent lighting because it plays havoc with the water temperature and creates a lot of algae - try to find one with fluorescent lighting.'' The only thing this tank is lacking is a heater, as betta's are really tropical fish, but he'll do fine at room temp too if you keep him out of drafts. Remember to get plants too - the bigger the betta tank, the more important plants become. Plants also give them reason to move around - natural environment = natural behaviour.
You set up the tank, add dechlorinator, and let it run over night. Then you can add fish. Running the tank for a week does the same thing as running it for a day. Don't worry about cycling, it's just one little betta fish and the tank will cycle itself harmlessly. To maintain the tank, remove about 1/3 of the water each week and replace it with fresh water.

I think what your mum means is that they don't need very oxygenated water, because of the labyrinth organ they get air from the top of the water.
