Anyone have a Mini Cooper?
I am looking for a Mini Cooper convertable and since I know nothing about them I thought I would come here and see what other people had to say about them.
I just think they are cool looking and I want I want I want!!!!

I have a Mini Cooper S Convertible in cool blue with black bonnet stripes. I started out looking at convertibles, since I never use the AC in summer. I had finally realized I like the wind on my body and the Mini has been a perfect decision for me. It's a lifestyle thing ... if you like AC, don't waste your money since it is an expensive thing to only let down between 70 and 80 degrees. However, mine is down anytime the temp is over 80, which in the south, it is all the time during summer.
As far as roominess is concerned, they're right. I used to kind of live out of my car. I'm a student and commute over an hour each way, so all sorts of stuff would just get thrown into my backseat and trunk (of the other car), to get picked up only occasionally. I have now reformed. The boot (i.e. trunk) is teeny, way small. However, I went to Petsmart one time and bought a 55 lb. bag of dog food, 3 45 lb. boxes of cat litter and 3 large bags of cat food -- and they all fit quite nicely in the passenger seat and rear seat. I even had room to spare, so I was able to take my nephew home from the store with me. Personally, that's all the storage room I really need. As far as legroom is concerned, it has awesome legroom in the front ... I would only put short folks and kids in the rear seats. I've ridden back there (i'm short) and it doesn't bother me.
My Mini has OK gas mileage, compared to American cars. However, she simply guzzles it compared to my Japanese Acura. And the Mini must take premium. That said, I think you'll understand why the Mini is my 2nd car. I kept the Acura for most of my commuting and have the Mini for my occasional trips around, the fun ones.
Getting a Mini convertible is a lifestyle thing. You simply need to be prepared and willing to accept the lifestyle your Mini can handle. A convertible is a summer-fun car. That's not to say you can't or shouldn't drive it in the winter, it's just a lot less fun than summer. Similarly, when racking up a lot of miles, figure out the gas money output and decide if you want to do that.
Good luck -- and start saving up your money. Mini's don't depreciate quickly when used, they retain their value so well, so you are looking at a high teens to mid twenties cost. Mine cost 30K new ... worth every penny.
