Mini Cooper 1.6
Mini Cooper/One for my Dad? hows it?
I really want to see my dad driving a Mini Cooper and he really can afford to drive it but he thinks 1.6-1.8 l engine will cost a lot to run!
How much difference will it make driving a car with engine of 1.6 as compared to one with 1.3? roughly how much £££s extra a year?
Also, I want to buy that for him on finance. Should I buy a brand new one or a fairly new, used one?
Really need your help with any good or bad things about Mini cooper in general! thanks.
As the owner of 2 Mini Coopers and now owning a Mini Cooper Clubman, I can tell you there's only a 1.6 engine in the whole range. I have found all of mine to be excellent drives and economic. There's no such thing as a 1.3 or a 1.8. As for new or used - it's up to you, but with things the way they are financially at the moment, you may be better buying a used one. Make sure you get one with the "service pack" already purchased on it - you'll get 3 years servicing already paid for from new. I dont think diesel is any more economic than petrol.

I have no idea about cars or car insurance, but my parents are making me all independent on the whole car thing, so I thought I'd see if anyone would have any idea.
I'm not 17 yet so I can't even sign up for a car insurance website, I just wanted to find out before I bought a car whether or not it's insurance would cost more than the car itself.
