Some kind of leak under the hood of my 2005 mini cooper?
Dark thick black odorless fluid dripping from passenger side of engine- there is a silver round part- don't know what this part is,(located between strut and engine) that it looks like it MAY be coming from- any ideas?- Can't take it to get serviced till Tues. next week- Thanks for any help!
Its the engine vibration damper. This is common with older coopers. Its about a $80 part (i think that is what I paid with bmwcca membership). Its pretty easy to DIY if you are at all handy but you will need a (I think) a 12MM torx socket for the removal of the bolt which is under/behind the passenger wheel well. If you have a Bentley manual refer to 110-12. You might still be under warranty pending on the year of your MINI. Yes you can still drive but don't go to long w/o having the repairs done.
