I'm looking at buying a Mini (one of the "real" old-fashion styled ones).
Basically 2 options... a 1990 Mini Flame or a 1994 Cooper.
Both are pretty well stock cars (1.0L flame, 1.3L Cooper) and are both in immaculate mechanical and physical condition. The Cooper comes with the wooden Cooper interior and bigger leather seats (I'm 6'2 so like this).
I've been saving money... right now in my bank account I have about 10 grand. The Cooper will set me back about 8 grand all up (with rego + on-road costs) while while the Flame is more like 6 grand.
Both take away most of my money, so it's sorta a big call. The Cooper's definitely more fun and for lack of a better word... sexier, however doesn't leave me with much cash is the bank after buying it. I want to go overseas in August so am trying to save money for then, that's easy if I get the Flame, but I won't like my car as much.
Which one should I buy?
I may have missed a redesign at some point but the original Austin Mini-Cooper had a fatal flaw in its brilliant design, the crankcase was open to the trans-axle,sharing lubricant, meaning that what failed in one tended to fail in both. They may have been retooled 3 times since i saw them racing in 1970, passing big V-8 cars in the road course of Texas World Speedway and getting re passed on the high banks, but little by little the inched away until they got away from these big tired 305 C.I.D. race cars and I was amazed. That was the only time I really paid any attention to a 4-Cly car until we started selling them and Dodge came out with the Omni and I thought of the Mini (not that it came close).
It's pretty much pick'em if you can get by with the smaller engine and the cars condition checks out and your happy buy the Flame. I have a feeling you want someone to tell you to buy the Cooper, its your finances if they'll bear it go for it.

Hi, can anyone recommend a good child car seat for in my mini? I'd like to make use of the isofix system. I did buy a recaro but only after getting it home found out that it isn't suitable for mini's in the small print. Any suggestions much appreciated. My son is 16months old. Thankyou in advance.

I am surprised your dealership did not show you how to return the seat belt to free mode by pulling the seat belt all the way out now the seat belt should free return. Same thing pull all the way out to set the belt back to child seat ratchet mode.
I think what you guys are doing is great. I just emailed this info to a friend that has his 2 year old in a booster seat. Keep up doing this. I really think you should have her write about all the after market items like the bundle mes and head rests that are seen in car seats. Also the things in Dennis Quaid's car seats for his babies. Many people think because celebritys have them they are safe and ok to use.

I really think you should have her write about all the after market items like the bundle mes and head rests that are seen in car seats. Also the things in Dennis Quaid's car seats for his babies. Many people think because celebritys have them they are safe and ok to use.
