Hi is it possible to convert a gas engine into a diesel to run it on veggie oil, I like mini coopers but they are just gas is it possible to turn gas into bio diesel and or diesel..?
Yes, it is possible, but not likely a worthwhile project because of the conversion cost. GM tried making a diesel out of a gasoline V-8 maybe 25 years ago. The car was doomed because so many things didn't line up with diesel operation. For example, the compression ratio of a diesel engine may be twice what a gasoline engine would have. The gear ratios were different. The diesel needs lots more fuel filtration to prevent contamination and or clogged injectors. What about the spark plugs and distributor in a gasoline engine when the diesel causes combustion simply be high compression ratios. What about the bearing size and strength of a diesel crankshaft? All significant differences that have to be dealt with. Perhaps the best way to get a car into diesel mode of operation would be to exchange engines, as in MBz cars where the German car uses the same sized engine block for both gasoline and diesel fuels.

The Cooper D has 104g/km of CO2 emissions, and a Honda Civic has 105. I'm not understanding why a Civic is ultra low in emissions (and is legal in all states) but the Cooper D wouldn't be legal in CA?
Only in Europe. It won't come to the U.S. until there is a 50-state version available. I called MINI USA and they said it's unlikely we will get one. Emissions are the problem... I mean, California is really the problem...
I drove one in Ireland last year. Loved it! Quiet - lots of torque too.
