Mini Cooper Driving Lights Mini Cooper making strange noise?
Hi,
Lately I've been hearing a loud noise from the engine when driving my mini cooper. Then when I turn the engine off, the noise continues for a couple of minutes before stopping....
I think the noise might be the fan......I have had a look under the bonnet and the fan appears to be working (altho I'm definitely no mechanic lol so don't really know what im looking at)
Also - there's no warning lights or anything..........
Any ideas what it migh tbe?
Quite probably 'is' the cooling fan,these can run for a considerable time after the engines shut off.Nothing to worry about provided you have the right coolant level in the header tank and the gauge stays around the normal running reading.If the temperature gauge starts to read higher or for that matter very cold when the engines clearly hot,get to a garage,nothing kills engines like too much heat.

Mini cooper s, pipercross induction, do they work?
I have a mini cooper S, which ran perfectly, I recently fitted a viper (pipercross) induction, and since this have had a high pitched whistle, and engine management light on. I took it to an ECU specialist who advised I removed the pipercross, and fitted the standard box back on, BUT, Ive driven it around for the last few hours, and its running amazingly...what should I do?
Have a specialist fit the pipercross properly (lush sound and better performance)
Or have the old box back on, and evrything hopefully be ok (but sacrifice speed, power and sound etc)
Anyone have a mini with a viper who could give me any feedback?
Honestly untill I read your question, I never even heard of Pipercross and I've been dealing with MINI's for 5 years now. First I would go to www.northamericanmotoring.com and ask a few of the guys on there who have used other induction systems what they used and whatnot.
You're going to keep getting the ECU light on until you either bypass some how or put either the stock intake back on or add the JCW intake ( which is still hold the full warranty by BMW/MINI). If you decide to change it out for another brand, I can highly recommend these links:
