R56 Mini Cooper S Engine Noise When Cold - Morning Start
My engine on a 2003 mini cooper is shaking very badly what could be the problem?
My car was running fine yesterday. I started it up this morning and it was making a horrible noise and the engine was shaking. Also it was acting as if it was going to die when I wasn't giving it gas. I checked the oil and it was a little low so I added a quart and then it was at normal levels, but I don't think being a quart low could cause any damage. So what could be the problem?
Oh man, where to start. It sounds as if a spark plug has broken, plug wire has came off or coil pack has went bad, it could be many things though. It also sounds as if it could've jumped time. that means that the timing chain has jumped a few teeth on the cogs. Best thing to do is to take it to a repair shop and get them to use a timing light and find out. Or if you have any mechanical experience jump right in and start lookin'. As far as your oil level being low that could also be many things, most common is a bad rear main seal. If it's not leaking terribly bad then i would just keep adding oil because the engine has to be pulled out to replace that seal. price of 1qt of oil vs engine repair lol. Hope this helps ya!!!
