Mini Cooper Factory Mini Cooper Warranty - Tricks & Tips?
I'm thinking about getting a used mini cooper. I'd like to know about the factory warranty - extended warranty - transfers, tips, etc.
Also, what kind of maintaince do these things need? English cars traditionally rate at the bottom the barrel in terms of realibity.
The original warranty is transferrable from owner to owner. So if you are lucky to find one with the 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty still available, great! The maintenance package is 3 years, 36,000 and covers everything other than tires. My maintenance package ran out in March, and I renewed it in May to 6 years, 100,000 miles for $1500. Considering the cost of the oil change, plus it covers maintenance of everything, brakes, clutch, etc. other than tires, it seemed worth it to me given the cost that it is to repair these items on a Mini. I replaced the tires with non-run flats so that solved the tire problem. Those tires are a pain anyway. From what I understand, the Minis hold up well as long as they are serviced and maintained properly.
