A friend of mine says that every Mini Cooper manufactured is uniquely different than the one made before it. Different meaning that the interior may be a unique color, or a different paintjob. Is there a source that verifies this?
No its not true. However, in theory it could be true due to the countless different paint, interior and options combinations. If each car was made using every possible combination just once then there would be more Mini's than owners.

is this a good first car?
I wanted a small car that was still really cute and not a boring one like a honda civic. Also, it has to be used and under $14,000. The third requirement was a good safety rating. I have been looking around, and would a Mini Cooper from 2002 or 2003 be a good car? I am a safe driver, I just want to know in terms of driving, handling, interior, safety, reputation, etc. from real people and their experiences.
go for an older bmw with no more than 80,000 miles on it.... definetly not boring and comes with quality things
Probably a Mini Cooper. They are fun to drive. I used to have a 750cc Mini but it kept dying whenever it rained so I'd like something a little bit faster and more reliable.
I test drove the 07' because I was going to trade in my 05' for one. few things I didnt like was the cosmetic changes and they took out the sports suspension option from the sports package, which sucks if you really like to drive the mini and have fun with it around corners. It also sitts up higher about 2 inches which is very noticable when compared to the 02'-06'. the car looks larger which takes away from the MINI feel. And because of the suspension not being as firm, it feels a lot softer. The options on the inside are very pretty though. nice colors, the gauges change color, i like the double sunroof opening, and it is faster. I am a fan of turbos over superchargers so I did like the feel of the turbo kicking in at 2300 rpm. Its got a lower rev with more go. and because of the turbos, its a lot quieter. overall the car is very nice but I didnt like the cosmetic work done to it. also when you look at the headers that go into the turbos, BMW looks like they welded it together and didnt do much about it. I looked poorley finished. Which is why I still have a 05'
