Mini Cooper Ipod Mini Cooper & iPod -- Shuffling the Songs?
I just got my Mini Cooper and I love that I can hook up my iPod, but I'm having an issue I hope can be solved easily. When I hook up my iPod, I make sure it's on the "Shuffle Songs" section, but once the first song is over, the Mini Cooper doesn't suffle it, it goes to the next song that was after the one that played but in alphabetical order. If that makes sense. So for instance if I played "Beat It", the next song would be "Beautiful" instead of a random song. Is there anyway to fix this?
You didn't say how you are plugging in your iPod. With the iPod adapter or an AUX port.
If you're using the iPod adapter, you press the button on the radio face that has RND over it. When a large RND appears on the radio display, your songs will shuffle. RND means random.
With an AUX cable (plugged in through the headphone port), you set the shuffle on your iPod.

I have a 05 Mini Cooper S convertible. It's my babied fun car, kept in the garage and never driven in inclement weather. I just moved to Oregon, so she hasn't been out much at all. I went to start her up a month ago and had to charge the battery (there were lights, etc, but not enough juice to start). Then went to start her up again today and there's NOTHING. Completely dead. I've had to have the battery replaced once before in CA. They said it was because the iPod jack requires you to turn off the iPod before turning off the car. This time I KNOW it wasn't on. What's up???
First of all, how long do you leave it setting? up to about 2 weeks should be ok. More than that, I'd rig up some sort of trickle charger for the battery. You can get one for $20, that plugs into the cigarette lighter.
If you ran the battery completely dead, it probably needs replacing. Normal car batteries don't respond well to a "deep discharge".
There is a steady small current drain from the battery to power the electronics. The electronics, after a period of time (up to an hour) put's itself in a low power mode. In this mode, the battery should last for weeks.
It's possible this power down is not working. You can have this checked at a GOOD repair shop. have them check of "off-state current".
Another possibility is something like the problem I had with a jetta. It was driven about once per week. About once or twice a year, I would find the battery dead. Finally, by elimination, found that the dome light (activated by the door) would sometimes not turn off. Not very noticeable in the daylight. If I was not using the car for a week, this is enough to kill the battery. solved it by turning the dome light off and leaving it off.
