I got my '06 MCS in December of 2005 and have been driving it ever since.
It is a small, premium car, so it's pricier than other small cars. It does offset the price with style and design. The handling is great from the factory and a few bucks can take it to incredible. The R50/R53 (hardtops before 2007) had some issues depending on model year... I'd recommend the used MINI buying guide at www.motoringfile com. The 2007 anf forward models are more reliable.
