Mini Cooper Racks
Yaris, Cooper, or something else?
I am a college student who commutes 85 miles 5 days a week. I need a car that is good on gas and can hold a surfboard. I would also like something that looks different (I used to own a black Camry and can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to sit in other people’s cars.)
I was thinking about a Mini Cooper because it’s cute (different), has pretty good gas mileage, and it can have a surf rack installed. However, it is small and I’m concerned about crash safety, and it’s a little pricey.
The Toyota Yaris is another car I’ve thought about. It is not as cute as the cooper, but it has decent mileage and is much cheaper, however it doesn’t look like there is a surfboard rack available for this car. I don’t know what can fit into the trunk with the back seats down.
Does anyone own a Yaris and surf? Does anyone know how safe the Cooper is? How do both cars run, and are they reliable? Should I just give up on these cars altogether?

oh and in the crash rating its good.
i was sideswiped. (i got hit when i was driving.) and the hit was on the passenger side,
u got hit by a saturn vue.
which is a pretty big SUV and my car did fine
well there was damage done but the car didnt flip or anything. and even though i was hit on the side both airbags deployed.
and i only had about $900 damage.
but yes.
its a safe car.

Hi! What is the best bike rack for a Mini Cooper S?
I have two bikes. Which bike rack is better for a Mini, roof or trunk mounted rack? Does a trunk mounted rack ruin the car paint?

I used truck racks, they never damaged my paint but I don't like 'em. A roof rack would work great on a mini because the roof is so low it'd be easy on and off. But you usually leave the roof rack on while you can quickly take off the trunk rack. Also, roof racks are far more expensive.
