can anyone tell me if it is ok to disconnect the coooling fan on a 1993 mini cooper...it is the yellow fan that sits near the wheel arch....there is another fan located near the radiator
Yes you can disconnect it. Its not on earlier minis with the same engine. I asked the guy at www.dsnclassics.com about this a while ago and he said he often wondered why they bothered adding it, since it hardly ever comes on (it might come on on a really hot summer's day when youd been sitting in traffic with the engine running for an hour). He speculated it might be needed in hotter parts of the world.
The fan on my mini was disconnected when i got it and I didnt notice until my radiator got a leak and I started looking for why it was overheating.
