I don't have one but I know someone who does. It is nothing more than a window unit on wheels. It cools one room at a time.You cannot hide the hose. It rises up past the top of the unit to reach the window. It looks ridiculous. If you do not mind ugly then this is for you.
If you want a better alternative (to me anyway) go to http://www.walmart.com and type air cooler in the search box. Air coolers are the same size as portable ac units and do no not have a hose. You fill it with one gallon of water every eight hours and cools as well as an AC unit. If the water runs out the fan continues to blow air.
Air coolers are less than $100.00 each, use only the same electric as a fan (huge electric bill savings), are portable, cheap and efficient.
Buy on line from walmart they will ship it free to any store you choose. For the money you spend on one portable ac unit you can have five air coolers.
