Mini Cooper SUVs What would you recommend as a good first car? ?
I am 16 and trying to find my first car. The most important thing to me (and my parents) is safety. I really like the Mini Cooper but I am also interested in SUV's and hybrids. I live at the beach so I do not have a great need for four wheel drive or anything. My price range is somewhere between 20 - 30 thousand. Any ideas?
Yes my parents REALLY will get a 30K car. Both of my sisters got cars of that price range. Plus I am paying for a portion of the price.
if your range is up to 30k i say get a nice car then like a accord v6, theyre safe really nice car plus it has power since its a v6.. get a accord coupe

i'm 14 now, 15 in september.
i'm going through a phase where i'm planning for the future.
i'm getting my car as soon as I can get my permit, (sometime after i'm 15)
price really isn't an option, but I don't want anything over $30,000, because i'm moving out of state for college, and I need my mom to save some money for that!
some cars I really like are:
Mini Cooper Convertible.
Nissian Cube.
Range Rover.
&just small cars in general.
i'm a real petite teenager so no huge SUVs please.

I never said I wanted those cars I listed, I mean, I was just saying cars in that area. Like, cars that look like them!
Range Rover = huge SUV... and expensive... in fear of being tagged a "spoiled brat," i would stay away from that "option.
my question back to you would be: how did you come to narrow your choices down between the Cooper and Cube? If its because you like the way they look, then don't let anyone tell you differently now whether one is cuter than the other (i'm all about making sure people are happy about their car purchases).
Some more "objective" considerations:
- Cube is far more practical and affordable than Cooper
- Cooper is sportier and more fun to drive (especially Cooper S manual)
- Convertible will leave you with very little room
- depending on how far you plan to move for college, taking long (200+ miles) trips in a cooper conv. with all of your belongs is probably not practical; cube would be better choice for that
- while at college, and while still in high school, consider how many of your friends you want to give rides to (while the Cube is a great passenger car, if you rather mooch rides off your friends, having a cooper conv. is a great excuse "my car is too small for everyone, you should drive!")
- both vehicles should have on-par reliability and safety ratings
- both vehicles are on fairly new/updated platforms/technologies
