2006 mini cooper owners only-what is the best all season tire to get?

My tires have worn down at 20,000 miles and I want to get nice new tires with stability/sport/control/sound proof. Do I have to stick to the 15" specs or can I go 95/60 and get sporty new cool ones? What worked best for you?

The most popular tire updrage alot of my customers have done with the 15" wheel size is to go to a 205/50/15. But if you want to go to a bigger size, I would not suggest going over a 17. 15 inch rims vs. 16 inch rims?

ok, me and my dad are arguing over rim and tire sizes for the mini cooper.
i say that 15 inch rims would provide a smoother ride, because the tire is thicker.
my dad says that 16 inch rims would be better, and wouldnt determine the smoothness of the ride, he doesnt believe that the tire would be thinner. so i would like someone to tell me who is right...
and also, which would be better 15 inch, 16, or 17 for the best ride and i guess look?
give me your pros and cons of each, please and thank you.

Generally speaking as the wheel gets larger the tire must have a smaller (shorter) sidewall, in order to keep the overall outside diameter the same. The shorter the sidewall, the better a car will handle, due to less lateral stretch - IE; the tire tread surface will not lean out away from the center line of the wheel as much while cornering, but the trade off is that the ride will be rougher, because there is less air space between the tread and the wheel to absorb the bumps in the road.

If the overall outside diameter of the tire AND wheel changes, the speedometer will not read correctly, and possibly the tires will rub the wheel wells of the vehicle.
