Mini Cooper Upgrades Cars Can I afford a mini cooper? Please read!?
When I was 16 my parents brought home a car for me. You're right...BROUGHT...not bought. They drove it home and I've always made the payments for the car, insurance, maintenance, etc. It was a "surprise car"...not something I got to pick out. Well the car is nice and all and gets great gas mileage...but it's bottom of the line. Not even electric doors or windows. I'm 21 now with a good job and want to upgrade to a 2010 Mini Cooper S. Payments would be $480 a month for 60 months. After all my bills...that would leave me about $300 a month for gas, etc. Is that taking myself too low or is that enough money for gas and having a little fun?

You should never negotiate in terms of monthly payments.
Your out the door price should never be more than 1/2 of your annual income.
If you are bringing in $800 a month, you can't afford it.
