i need new locking wheel nuts for my 1999 rover mini cooper but i dont know what alloys i have. How can i find out?
if it's a full set of nuts you need, pop to your local spares shop and tell them what car you've got, they'll sell you a suitable nut set with locking key
if it's the locking key for the nuts that are already on there that you need, then finding the code for a replacement key might be difficult - if the wheels are standard then phone a Rover specialist (since the demise of Rover and Rover dealers I have gone through local specialists to get bits, try Google). Most Rover original locking nuts have an indented star pattern. If you think the key has been lost then try the last place that fitted tyres/tires or brakes or serviced the car - they might have retained it by accident (this happens reasonably often)
if they're aftermarket wheels with aftermarket nuts and you haven't got the code for a replacement key then you might have too crack them off/drill them out, though there is obviously a risk of damage to the wheels.
