Mini Cooper Truck Vehicles hello i am looking for a vehicle either a suv, jeep , van or a truck with good gas mileage?
yes i am 18 years old and im still at home and i need a vehicle thats sorta big i dont like to drive cars although i love mini coopers but anyway i need something in my price range and thats about $5000 to $15000 maybe alittle over thankyou
well, i tend to like jeeps, for obvious reasons. i would suggest a later model cherokee (anything 97-01) they are the more refined cherokee, and get better milage than the older ones (they have a better intake manifold design). get one with low km's. it should be well within your price range. you can get a nice one for around ten grand. they are really nice to drive, the visibility is great. they have a trusty 4wd system, and lots of kick if you need it. it is a jeep, so the suspension is a little stiffer than most vehicles, but i wouldn't consider that a huge downfall. i like a stiffer ride. they handle really well if driven right (like any suv. they don't flip at every turn like most people say). go with a jeep. hope this helps

My truck vs. a new hybrid?
I have a 2001 Ford Lightning which has been cared for and even lavished attention upon. In effect, I love my truck. After a family friend being seriously injured and near death in a head on collision which she had no control over as a man on the other side of the road fell asleep and veered into her vehicle (an SUV) she was told that without the SUV she would have been dead as the man in the Focus that hit her died. Please don't bring up an argument that her car killed him because she was also informed that the mini cooper behind her would have lost it's 2 passengers if it had been hit instead.
Besides my fear of small vehicles, I refuse to buy foreign.
So, if I got rid of my truck, what would I buy that would make the trade worth it?

two things which have come up:
a. if you've ever seen it that is, you'd know that the Lightning is a sport truck and therefore low enough that it's not really of the easy flipping size.
b. yes, it's paid off completely.
You're likely to be better off with your truck if it is paid off or close to it. Paying less for gas doesn't do anything to help your budget if you're slapped with a $600 payment for a new hybrid. The trade isnt worth when you figure total cost of ownership.
As a fellow enthusiast, no one is going to pay what you think the truck is worth. If you're trying to ease your budget, buy some old Honda or Toyota and drive that. Hybrids are a crock anyways. You're using gas over 25mph, and where does that big ass battery go when it wont hold a charge anymore? My guess is a landfill. Still eco-friendly? No, it's an illusion. Keep your truck if you can still afford the gas and take care of it. Life is too short to drive a car that sucks.
