I can't afford a brand new Porsche so I'm thinking of getting a used one but I'm worried about mechanical faults and costly maintenance if you've had one of those please tell me whetehr you recommend it or not http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-Boxster-S-Premium-TipTronic-Auto-Leathr-Loaded-CLEAN_W0QQitemZ360149752036QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item53da9918e4&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A7|39%3A1|240%3A1308
They are the most reliable German cars you could buy.
For Gas:
If you drive the average 12,000 miles per year and gas costs $2.50 per gallon. And if you average 20mpg.
It would cost about $1500 per year.
And then for oil changes and tune ups. $320
It needs synthetic oil and premium gas.
For Porsche's, you could wait 10,000 miles before needing another oil change. In brand new Porsche's, the oil change intervals are every 20,000 miles. So do not listen to the mechanic shop when they say come every 3000 miles. They only say that so they get more business.
And then possible maintenance or repairs or tire replacements might be another $1500.
And then Inspection for 2 years is about $70.

Landrover Freelander 1 – The First Compact Suv
A market research conducted by the Rover Group in the late 80s pointed to a market potential for a compact 4x4 SUV that was almost non-existent on the road. The Rover Group promptly got its R&D working in the early 90s with a directive to design a no-nonsense SUV with a fusion of 4x4 off-road handling qualities and city driving creature comforts in a sporty compact body. Under a secretive project called CB40 after the Canley Building 40 where the work was being done, Rover started building what was to become the first generation Freelander.
It had wanted to get some funding from its business partner Honda but was politely refused as Honda was itself busy with a similar project that was to hatch the CRV. Rover was unfazed and after BMW bought the group in 1994, it launched the Landrover Freelander 1 in 1997 at about the same time Honda launched its CRV. The Freelander became an instant hit in Europe and was later introduced in the North American markets competing with the Honda CRV.
Model Variants
Between 1997 to 2006, the first generation Freelanders were offered in two basic models with various sub-variants under each. The 3-door softback semi-convertible SUV was offered as E, S, SE, Sports and Sport Premium configuration. The 5-door Estate SUV on the same 101-inch wheelbase was offered under the same configuration but with HSE. In 2004, the Freelander underwent a significant facelift in the Mark 1 version with a redesigned interior and external trims like a new front face and rear. It remained unchanged until its last production in 2004.
A succession of inline 4-cylinder engines powered the Freelander starting with the 1.8L Rover K-series badged as 1.8i. This never got sold in the US as it was problematic in the European scene. In general, it didn’t have enough power for the heavy Freelander body and often overheated to cause head gasket failure. In addition, its rather poorly case alloy block caused cylinder liners to “drop” and head gaskets to fail.
A year later, Rover replaced the problematic K-series with a more competent 2.0-liter Rover L-series badged 1.8 Di until its 2001 production and was replaced by the BMW M47 diesel badged TD4 from 2001 onwards. And in the same 2001 to 2006 production run, a more power model was offered with the 2.5 liter Rover V6 petrol engine badged V6.
Under all engines, the Freelander was offered with either 5-speed automatic or manual transmission with the latter dominating the early models. The automatic versions on the V6 came with the Tiptronic styled gearboxes that proved quite popular among SUV users.
There was little doubt that the Landrover Freelander 1 was a competent off-road 4X4 earning some credentials in the Camel Trophy and the Land Rover G4 Challenge endurance races for off-roaders. But despite having Traction Control and Hill Descent Control as well as ABS, the lack of center locking differential and low range transmission gear compromised off-road handling and didn’t match other Land Rover models. While it proved to be a capable city driving 4x4, it failed to trounce the more popular Honda CRV. It saw its last production run in 2004 before giving way to a more capable Freelander 2.
