How does an after burner work on a turbo car?
Hey. Just saw a car with apparently a after burner in it. Wondering how this works?. the only way i can see it hapening is with a turbo charger. Also what are teh sped benefits of one?.
it doesnt...it workes on a turbine engine...
never heard of one fitted to a turbo car..

Holset - How a Turbocharger Works
will a saab ecotec turbo ecm work in place of my stock ecotec ecm?
2.2 03 ecotec cavalier, if i get a stock saab ecotec turbo ecm will it fit in place or require a lot of custom modification, and will it work with my engine?
Short answer - maybe. The 2.2 sized ecotec engine has some issues if you replace it with the same size engine, the 2.0 was built for turbocharging modifications.
Long answer - there is a website around this, and goes into detail on all the custom modifications that need to be done to make it work. Examples include the engine management system software needs to be modified or "flashed" by a dealership willing to do this for you (it voids every warranty in the book so many will not), the transmission has to be the "right" one to handle the torque (listed as acceptable are the 4T40E and 4T45E with the right intercooler kits.
This is very complicated to do but it is possible. Take a look at this great website that is dedicated to helping people turbocharge their ecotec engines. Although it is around changing the current engine to turbocharging and you are talking about putting in a new one, it will get you thinking about all the other changes you will have to worry about as well.
